Though my favorite identity marker is Mama to my seventeen-year old kiddo, I also identify as a psychic intuitive, tarot reader, trained energy healer, yoga teacher, indie oracle deck creator, and stage IV cancer survivor. I’m also staunchly Gen X, and the biggest Ted Lasso nerd you’ll ever meet. By day (and sometimes night) I manage a large residential property. This multifaceted life unfolded in a completely organic way, but if you were to peep my natal chart, these wildly disparate puzzle pieces make sense.
Growing up in the Chicago ‘burbs during the John Hughes-era was pretty idyllic. My mother was big into the “woo,” which had me exploring astrology, metaphysics, and supernatural phenomena at an early age. At seventeen, a friend introduced me to the Rider Waite tarot, and I was immediately hooked making a beeline to the bookshop to buy my own deck – and still use it today. I’m a Libra Sun, Leo Rising, Cancer Moon with a Taurus midheaven. I’m an ENFP for those of you into Myers Briggs.
At twenty, I took off to Mumbai, India; a trip that profoundly shaped who I am today. Twenty years later, I discovered my deep love of yoga. Teaching and practicing yoga brings me great joy.
Intuition has been my superpower since I can remember. Even as a little kid, I was fascinated by the concept that mystical and unseen forces surround us at all times. One Halloween night, I ransacked my closet and cobbled together a fortune-teller outfit to wear to a party. When I arrived, someone jokingly asked if I could tell them their fortune. Without missing a beat, I rattled off the first things that came to mind. With mouth agape and eyes like saucers, the woman asked, “How in the hell did you know that?!” I vaguely remember raising one eyebrow and saying, “Madame Morgana knows all” before sashaying away. Ten minutes later, I had a line of people who wanted to see what I also knew about them. That night paved the way to becoming a psychic intuitive.
After completing my intuitive studies, I received my energy healing certification, several yoga teaching credentials, and apprenticed as a breathwork instructor. Connecting our mind and body to the unseen has been my life’s adventure.
In November 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Her2+ Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (aka: aggressive breast cancer). I had just turned 50. The cancer spread quickly to my spine, fracturing several of my vertebrae and ribs. Since then, I have undergone chemo, radiation and will need infusions every three weeks, so I can stick around and enjoy life with my gorgeous and amazing child. Leaving the planet was never an option for me, so I became the most determined and hopeful cancer patient I could be. Since my parents are both gone, and with no family nearby, my kind and generous friends have surrounded me with never-ending love, support and assistance.
Cancer surprisingly came with several gifts. Namely by clarifying my perspective and rearranging my priorities to pave the way for deeper healing. Even with cancer and a bunch of broken vertebrae, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. The moral of that story is, don’t wait until you get a life-changing diagnosis to do the healing work necessary to become the best version of yourself. And don’t waste time – you have far less than you think.
Cancer also inspired me to create my most recent deck, “The Dyr Oracle.” It’s an oracle deck based upon Norse Mythology, my ancestry. “Vegvisir” is the symbol of protection and guidance Vikings used as a compass, translating into “wayfinder” in Icelandic. It is written in the Huld Manuscript that whomever wore this symbol would find their way, even without a map and in the worst of weather. I lean on and trust this compass so unequivocally, I had it tattooed on my inner arm.
Ted Lasso geek that I am, I also just created an inspired oracle deck dubbed the “Lasso’racle.” I didn’t expect to become an indie oracle deck creator, but truly love this artistic and spiritual expression. Divination is one of my favorite ways to delve into my spiritual side, and I’m delighted to put something out into the world that will light the path for others and guide them on their way.
Intuitive Tarot Reader will always be one of my favorite professional identity markers. I have given readings since 2009. If you’d like to book your own personal reading, you can! Book A Reading
